Short Form Literature Series curated by Jay Friedenberg features prose and verse of limited verbiage. This genre seeks to establish new intellectual and artistic standards in a short literary format. Small words pack punch. This series consists of explanations and readings of haiku, aphorisms and rhyme poems along with linked images and dance. Curator, photographer and poet Jay Freidenberg presents us the history and expression of these forms, appropriate to this age of terse communication.
January 17, 6 - 9 pm. This month's Acidic Ghost Spectral Reading is featuring Bonny Finberg, Sheila Maldonado, and Jim Feast - curated by David Pemberton. The Acidic Ghost Spectral Reading Series, which pairs poets and writers interacting with projected images, presents a lineup of the Unbearables. The Unbearables are a group of writers and artists who have been hanging out since the late 1980s. They have published five anthologies and published works by single authors including novels by Bonny Finberg, John Farris, Chavisa Woods, and Carl Watson. They have also engaged in cultural pranksterism, such as invading the NewYorker office to ask the journal publish better poetry and protesting the NYU Kerouac Conference, demanding the de-comodification of the Beats. More positively, for 10 years they've read spread out like a charm bracelet across the Brooklyn Bridge.
Please join us January 24th, 6 - 9 PM for an evening of Classical Guitar & Oboe by Chris Belt & Beatriz Ramirez-Belt. Chris Belt and Beatriz Ramirez perform modern and contemporary classical music for guitar and oboe. For their residency at Studio 26, the duo performs new repertoire in preparation for their debut recording. Expect a high energy, risk-taking, performance in an intimate, inviting setting.
