Maria Santiago is an abstract geometric painter. She works with contrasts of color, shapes and visual tension, with the emphasis always on the color and tonatity. She also works with achromatic pallet. In her latest series, she is exploring the scale of white, black and grey, searching the harmony and balance, focusing on the composition and texture. In each of her work there is a fresh new personal feeling, new analyses with which she approaches and explores each design. Maria’s artwork is based on geometric shapes such as a square, a circle, a triangle, a rectangle, a half circle, straight lines and curves. She uses different color pallets, some combinations are brighter, and others are more subdued. In her collage work she searches through all the shapes and colors to organize the space with harmony, creating her own visual language. That includes different signs and symbols, a little mysticism and spiritualism that reflect her personal feelings about the universe.
