My work is driven by a deep-seated curiosity about the latent potential of materials and the systematic development of unconventional technique. Each project reinvents and redeploys the medium at hand, un-tethering it from conventional aesthetics and practices. The materials I use are carefully manipulated to explore the interaction between liquid and solid matter. This fundamental interaction establishes a rational framework that allows me to manipulate physical relationships between color, texture, structure, form, and viscosity. However, the work takes on a life of its own when something unpredictable happens in the process of making. For example, this occurrence could be a chemical reaction between two materials, an unexpected texture or color, or something else entirely. This element of surprise is crucial to my work, since it inevitably defies my expectations and transgresses the limiting boundaries of rational analysis.
